Bruno Quezada - Music Artist
"My works are the tears of memories of a time that will never be."
Mexican-Canadian cellist and composer Bruno Quezada has been an active member of the classical music scene in both Canada and the UK for the last decade. A recent graduate from the Royal Academy of Music, Bruno’s versatile career as a cellist and composer has won him many awards, including the 2021 Silver Medal and the Barbara Pentland Award for the Vancouver International Music Competition, and a 2024 Distinction award from the Academy. Bruno has played in venues like the Royal Overseas League, Sudley Castle, The National Club, The Orpheum, Domain Forget, Duke’s Hall, and Cadogan Hall. Bruno has also worked with distinguished artists such as principals of the Berlin Philharmonic, Trevor Pinnock, John Wilson, Roderick Cox, Robert Cohen, James Gilchrist, and Anna Tillbrook. Bruno plays on a 1840s Guinot Cello from Mirecourt, France.
Recently, Bruno was invited to perform in Toronto by his sponsor, Alta West Capital, for his successes in London, giving recitals of his original music, and inviting upcoming musicians to the stage with him. He premiered his Cello sonata "Cuentos" to great acclaim at the National Club in Toronto. Following this, Bruno has partnered with Alta West's charity partner, "Shelter Helps," to raise money to build houses for marginalised communities in El Salvador. Proceeds from his Concert series "Bruno and Friends" will go directly to support this charity. Being of indigenous Mexican descent, Bruno feels very strongly about supporting other indigenous communities in the Latino community, as he knows what it is like to start from little. Bruno champions neglected repertoire from Mexican composers of the last century, including them in several of his programs.
